Contextual Architecture
This model shows the key interactions between the Bursar system other systems across campus. These interactions involve some exchange of data, the flow of which is represented by the arrow direction. The person icon represents the users interacting with the system. We will now go a little more in depth by explaining a bit more about each interaction.
Banner Financial - This portion of banner tracks all financial data for the university. The Bursar updates payment balances for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Financial Aid - The financial aid department sends the Bursar information on tuition benefits for students.
Banner Student - The Bursar uses this banner data to check for student enrollment so that they are charged for their coursework. The Bursar also updates Banner Student with financial holds.
PNC Bank - If accounts are overcharged and repayment is appropriate, the Bursar sends this information to PNC Bank to send out these checks.
CashNet - This is used for credit card transactions. Transaction request come from within accounts receivable and accepted payment is reported back.
MyMiami - This is a web portal that helps students, faculty, and authorized users to find the Bursar systems.
MyCard - This system tracks meal plan and other balances for students. The Bursar sends changes to these balances to the MyCard system.
Users - The users interact with the Bursar system through the Tuition Management System portal.
